New Year Resolutions for 2014......with a completely NEW slant !!!

As Michael has supplied us with his Resolution for 2014 thought would get this thread underway and Michael's Resolution is..............

"My 2014 resolution is to spend more time in a state of gratitude for every moment I have and to especially show it for my family, friends & fans. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! LET'S MAKE IT GREAT!!"

........along with, I believe, a selfie which think has been taken whilst Michael has been out sightseeing in Galati, Romania.

.

Please feel free to pop in whenever you like to share with us your New Year Resolutions or, as Sylvie and I like to do, which is to set ourselves goals per month to try and achieve rather than the one for the whole year......a little bit of a variation on the theme and we have had fun doing it for over the past couple of years and hope 2014 proves to be as much fun and as they always say, the more the merrier, so please consider coming in and joining us.......everyone is more than welcome !!!! :)    BTW Sylvie and I also try to make it every Monday when we come in and compare notes but absolutely no restriction on when anyone prefers to come in....none whatsoever !!! :)

Believe the following, which Sylvie was sent, is more than appropriate to be placed on here and hope you all enjoy it !! :)

Hey Sylvia, wow, I’m impressed: you’ve posted and I haven’t even had breakfast yet!  Well I figured Wimbledon would be your priority, but at least, you seem to be managing your time well. Yeah, I know what you mean about buzzing neighbourhood: the kids are just out of school and it’s officially summer too. Sylvia, you’re too funny! Getting frightened and wondering what you were up to? It’s like your body has a mind of its own? Lol I heard of a movie like that once... ;D Really, I did: it was called “Idle hands”... Well anyway, I’m proud of you about the gym and the walks all in one week! I do hope some of your gardening was done though. Well on my side, I went all out this week. I moved the winter clothes from the crawl-space and got hubby to give some away, lol and I painstakingly weeded my side of the closet and have a big bag ready to go. I’m done mending stuff for grandbaby and should ship it out to my daughter this week. Also, the daybed is put up, but since it’s a tad larger than expected, I need to rearrange a few things this week, for the room  not to be too crowded. It “looks” terrific in the room though! My son told me he’d help with the shelving unit, so things are shaping up for another busy week. Art and sewing projects are moving as others are added, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. Computer filing is moving slowly but moving and I hope to move more out to the external drive this week, phew! Guess that sums it up! Break a leg on the gardening Sylvia, keep up the good work  on the physical  aspect and best of luck to your Wimbledon faves, as well as anyone with goals/resolutions! :D Take care Sylvia and have a good one. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

I'm in here nice and early and funnily enough remembering today is a Monday and think it is about the clearest thought I've had in a few days or certainly one without having to sit and ponder on for a little while because, might as well get this out of the road, those on FB and a couple on here already know because of wee messages that just happened to get past in last couple of days but last week I was in a car accident.  No one was injured but I was left with aches and pains and a few bruises but thank goodness most are well on the way out and it is just that darn muscle at top of left arm that is still singing it's own song but I know, even it, is getting better.   Without going into detail too much I was coming back from gym along our coast road and turned round a bend and there was a car sitting in the middle of lane not going anywhere and I ploughed straight into the back of him.  He wasn't going anywhere because when he had turned corner he saw a wide load coming up the road toward him and he got a little fright and that is me being the kindest I have been to the guy since it happened and he stopped dead because he "didn't think he could get past the wide load".....his words, not mine and BTW as I ploughed into him the wide load sailed right past us with plenty of room to spare:  just another guy who thinks everything is bigger than it actually is, including his car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL  My poor wee buggy became a write off as her headlights were hanging out like two eyeballs out of sockets, wires everywhere, bonnet a quarter into engine and part of engine, especially radiator, mangled and a kind of, fun part, for when I came too or, at least, brain started working again I saw what I thought was smoke coming out of engine and I remember thinking, "oh dear, looks like my car is on fire.  Will I get out ????"  By the time I had made up my mind smoke turned to, what I could clearly see, steam because of course I had ruptured radiator.  The stupid things that go through your mind, I mean, "will I get out"....no....I'm feeling a bit cold and need heated up, get the fire started.....LOL

Now for the good news:    I went out for a walk on Saturday and was going to go to supermarket to pick up a few little things (got to do it like that now when I can't throw everything in the car) and I passed by our local car dealer and what did I see sitting in the forecourt, oh yeah, plenty of cars I would have loved but there was one little beauty sitting there with an equally beautiful LITTLE price tag so I inspected her as far as I could and then took myself into the showroom and met the sales rep and as they say, the rest is history, for I bought that beautiful little car.   I am going back today to finalize the paperwork as I just put down a deposit to get her taken off the forecourt and out of "for sale" until today when her "sold" sticker will go on her.   She is a Kia Picanto LX, 1.1 5 door hatchback with just over 37,000 miles on clock and she was first registered in December, 2006 and her registration is LC56 JNN and I loved that when I saw it for immediately the LC became Lucky Car and the JNN became my middle name, Jean or, my mum's name, Jeanie.  Just as a little footnote that registration number is in my brain, don't have to think about it and yet car I have written off, my little buggy, which I had for 7 years I always had to think what her reg was, always !!!!   I will have to think up another name for this little one and her colour is just about, what I would call, electric blue......how about "the blue doo" and if anybody else has any suggestions they will be grateful received and given due consideration, I promise !!!!!!!!!! lol      Should run a wee competition for best nickname for my wee car, prize, a huge thank you !!!!!!! lol.  I am serious, if anyone can come up with a good little name I promise I will think about it and I did even think about just calling her "LC" or "LuCy".

So that is basically my story for last week apart from fact I did go to gym one day, yeah that fateful day, and was going to have gone back on the Friday...see what thought did ??? LOL   At least now that nearly a new month is upon us  I will be getting used to driving my new little "LuCy" car and will definitely have to show her way to gym and whenever I do actually pick her up the one thing I am going to do, the very first thing I am going to do, is go back to where I really thought my number had been called and at one point, I truly did.    Another little aside (playing Columbo again ...LOL) when putting in claim guy asked me when I had passed driving test....I couldn't remember and told him to back to 1900 and he might find it.....but he did find it and it was on 6th December, 1974 so nearly 40 years I have held a driving licence and that was my very first accident and what a one to have for the first....a write off, oh yeah, no wee bump or scratch for me, take her clean out ....LOL

Out of here now to go get ready for visit to car dealer and sign away my life on another credit agreement...LOL

Sylvia, your left arm is singing? I hope very much the song is by Michael!

What color is your new car?

I'm going in the next few days agonize to find a name.

At the moment I have only one idea: "MB-bee". So it would be certain that your new car accompanies you to the next tour!

I wish you a great week!

Petra (Germany)

Thanks Petra and I quite like the idea of "MBeeeee" !!!!! LOL   Song my arm is singing is definitely Time, Love & Tenderness for that is what it needs......LOL    My car is blue and as I call it electric blue and here is picture of what she looks like...........

I have completed all paperwork on her and I pick her up on Friday, 4th July at noon......yipeeeeeee !!!! :)

Congratulations to a beautiful car! I also love to ride the little ones!

Hey Sylvia, the pic of Michael on the hood is still missing!

Sylvia, have all times a good trip!!!

Petra (Germany)

I'm so happy for you, Sylvia.

Best regards from Berlin

Katrin

Hi Sylvia, well first, I’m glad to know you’re all right!  And to think all you’ve gone through with your wee buggy in the past couple of months... I like the name Lue-C, or however you want to spell it! :D It reminds me of Lucille Ball and all the antics she was up to on “I love Lucy” and can picture you and new wee buggy being up to something too! Lol Well on my side, for the record, I’ve had an exceptionally good week computer filing,crawl-space sorting etc. I’m having my biannual internet problems, so I’m using my time off the computer well. :D Kudos on at least getting to the gym once Sylvia. May I ask what the doctor said about your arm? I hope it’s just a case of TLT for it to get better. In any case, good luck with the new car Sylvia, take it easy and have a great week. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

I am very glad you are basically okay, Sylvia. I hope your shoulder heals quickly. Your new car is a pretty color :). You take care of yourself.

Hugs,

Kathy T. :)

Thanks for all messages girls and love your picture Katrin with "MBeeeeeee".......love it !!!! :)    Sylvie, what Katrin has done is taken a frame which contains a picture frame sitting on a table and there is a little cat sitting there too along with a bottle and glass of beer and what she has placed in the picture frame is the photo I put in of my new car but what she has done is written on the door "MBeeeeee" and in actual fact it looks darn good.

Have to say I love your idea of "I Love Lucy" for had forgotten completely about that in thinking of Lucy and I remember the programme well for tried never to miss an episode and as you say the things she got up to are slightly reminiscent of "someone".....LOL   On your question about what doctor said .....hmmmmmmm what is a doctor ?????   An ambulance did stop at scene to make sure I was okay and they took into ambulance and did various checks and, uh, eh, hmmmmm they did want me to go to hospital....what's a hospital ?????   Think you will have guessed that hospital was home and doctor was me and I did have to sign a disclaimer......I am okay, honest !!!! :)

Glad you have had a good week Sylvie and hope it continues although hope your internet problems don't and certainly hope they don't get any worse !!!

Have a great week girls and a wonderful 1st July.  Sun is splitting the sky here and so most of today, apart from popping in and out to see how Wimbledon is doing, it will be serious sun bathing for me !!!!!!! lol.

Sylvia.  Your wee Scottish friend.

Hey Sylvia, well first, thanks for the pic description and thanks Katrin for sharing it. “I love Lucy” plays here every night and I must say is quite kin to your spirit, lol so I thought this would be fitting... XD Now on the doctor, in case you haven’t guessed, this was my sneaky way of asking you if you’d seen one, because I doubted you did and I was right. You’re (biologically) a grown woman Sylvia, lol so I just hope you don’t let it fester too long if the pain persists.  As far as my internet problems, it’s the evil I know, so I’ve learned to try and work around it. We’re having temps in the 30’s C + Humidex and I can’t sit still in that,so I’ve already done almost a week’s worth of work yesterday! Lol I don’t think I’ll be able to top last week efficiency-wise, but if I can manage putting up my darn frames, it’ll be a successful week. Have a good one Sylvia, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada :D

Hey Sylvia, We watch tennis here, too! We love Nadal, it was sad to see him lose:( But never fear, he will be back!!!

A I said before, cars are replaceable, but people aren't...I'm glad you got out with only a few minor injuries, the Angels were with you!

I haven't thought of a name for your New car, but since it's a pretty Blue, I thought of Michael in his Blue shirt, he does look good in Blue, I think:)! Then I thought about those Blue M&M's.....and then just plain ole "WAMLAW" license plate on front:)! How's that for a starter:)! Some people put sayings on there cars here in the states, or they have details done on the back window!

How's about that Fireplace pic....LOL!!!!

Have a great ride in your New baby!!!

Mary (meg's mom)!

Big change today and everything feeling a lot, lot better but am watching Andy Murray right now and think I've got a pain somewhere else with his performance.....think he must have been kissing Serena and looks as though he might just have her virus, or something, because things sure ain't right for he is playing worse than a junior.   Grigor Dimitrov is playing well but it is Andy who is losing the points not Grigor winning them starting to look as though we may have a bunch of new players through to semis.

On car Mary we have our registration number both back and front of car so can't do as you can in States and have a lovely decorative plate in front....not allowed to do and even for having stickers etc. on cars our law changed a while ago on that because when the Channel Tunnel opened and people were able to travel into Europe far more easily by car they used to gather the stickers from countries they had been to and stick them on the rear window but what started to happen was that some people put on so many that their vision was impaired and far more accident started to happen and it was recognized, when a survey was carried out by insurance companies, the majority of those had far too many stickers on car and so it became the law that as soon as it was felt vision was impaired you didn't get your road tax renewed and your car was off the road until you removed stickers and so people basically stopped bothering about putting anything on cars.  Only stickers you now see here are ones saying "Baby On Board" or something similar but nothing decorative.....do you think I should try and reverse it and get one made up for Michael ??????   I do have a tiny little t-shirt that says on it "I Love Michael Bolton" and the "love" is symbolized by a red heart so maybe I could put that in one of my windows but not too sure where the sucker has gone for it for I have it on one of my little teddy bears right now.   I do feel like you though that when it is such a lovely blue and as you say Michael favours blue it has got to be made into a distinctive MB car.....need to keep the thinking cap on !!!!! LOL.

Sylvia   Your wee Scottish friend.
