I attended the Thackerville show last night! Some of you will remember me from the 'old days' as a Bolton Buddy, mostly known to you as "live4roses". I used to live in Michigan and went to dozens of midwest concerts back then, and occasionally travelled around, especially to Canada and one trip to CT. In 2002 I moved to Santa Barbara, California, and over my five years out there, I saw Michael only a few times. I did manage to attend a nice CD signing of Vintage at a mall near Los Angeles once and got to talk to Michael then. In 2007 I moved to the Dallas, TX area to be near my kids and grandchildren. It so happens one of the best venues around is an easy one hour drive from home for me...the Winstar World Casino at Thackerville!

They have in recent years completely remodeled the casino and venue there, and it now is a really lovely place to see a great show...I was in third row center, and it was just right! There were a couple of 'house seats' rows ahead of us tho, and the unfortunate bit was no cameras allowed and towards the end of the show when Michael LIKES the audience to come up close to the stage, they only allowed those in the house seats to go up there...bahhhh!!! I noticed several ppl around me taking pics with their phones, so I tried to but the camera police busted me and said no. I couldn't get anything but shadows from where I was sitting anyway. The audience struck me as much older than in past years of my MB concerts, but fairly enthusiastic.

This concert is the first one I've seen since I moved to Texas, because I missed his show with the Dallas Symphony a while back...had a primo seat for it and even bought a new dress to wear and I became suddenly ill a few days before and ended up in the hospital for a while. I wasn't going to let that happen this time!

I proudly wore my "Team Boltower" tshirt, and got a bit of attention from ppl sitting near me...not sure if Michael could see it, but I do think he saw me out there...at least I hope so! I felt that inevitable 'connection' to him in every song, and loved every minute of hearing him perform live again. I almost cried when the intro to Go The Distance opened the show! And when he sang Georgia, I really missed my ole Bolton Buddy from Michigan, Georgia H.

The new band and singers were great, but I must admit I sort of miss the old band members...must accept that change is constant, as they say. The band was tight and did very well, and was not distracting from Michael's performance.

Nessun Dorma was the big hit of the evening, getting a standing ovation, of course...I travelled to Italy last year to see family I had not seen in over 30 years, and this song now means so much more to me! Bravo, Michael!

Loved the new song from the One World album performed live it's much better than on the recording!

After the show I hit the merchandise table, just for fun....often when I travel I come home with a tshirt and mug...I came home this time with two shirts, a mug, a tote bag and the souvenir book...I already have all the cds!

It was a great night and warmed my heart to see Michael perform live again after a very long wait. He had many nice mentions of Dallas and Texas, so I hope he returns again soon!
YES LINDA I REMEMBER YOU!! So glad to see you posting here and that you attended the show last night. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!! Bummer they didn't let the rest of the fans up to the stage also...sounds like he did do a great show and you had a wonderful time.

It's so nice to see Bolton Buddies from in the "old days" coming here more and more. Glad you posted!!!! I hope you and Georgia H. can reconnect sometime..I haven't seen her in years either since the old days.

Post often!!
Robin :)
Sadly, I think Georgia may have passed on...she was seriously ill the last time I heard from her over five years ago....all the more reason to cherish that song when Michael sings it!
Oh so sorry, I didn't realize this..:(
Robin
You are right Linda K. Georgia H. has passed away. I was shocked too.

Oh, and Thanks, Robin, for the warm welcome to the Forum! I'll be here! I remember you too! (((hugssss)))

Hi Linda and welcome to the forum! Yes I remember the “live4roses” signature from the old “Michael’s place” message board, it’s nice to read posts from the “old” fans! Sounds like you’ve had a great time, despite the venue restrictions, good for you. lol yes the audience gets older but is still faithful, which is good to know and nice to see you’ve been keeping up to date with him… Oh I can understand getting teary-eyed if you hadn’t seen him in concert in a while, it’s like reconnecting with an old friend, isn’t it? Linda, you said you’re fromMichigan, were you friends with Micki also? Just curious. Michael seems to enjoy his southern audience that’s very vocal… Good luck getting another concert soon! Take care Linda and thanks a lot for sharing your wonderful review, as Robin said, do post often! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
Thanks, Sylvie! It's good to be doing a review again and posting here! I do remember seeing Micki at concerts back then, too! I have so many wonderful memories, and Michael is still so very entertaining! I'm so glad he's on the road again, doing what he does best and loves so much...it shows that his heart is in the right place!

btw...I changed my profile pic to one taken just a few weeks ago when I stopped by Michael's 'star' on the Hollywood Walk of Fame when I was visiting friends in California!
Hi again Linda, wow, you get around a lot, don’t you? I’m sorry to hear about your friend Georgia, have you tried checking the members list? Well, good for you visiting Michael’s star, but sorry to say I can’t appreciate your picture, I’m blind. I’ve met Micki in 2002 and she was a sweetie. I seem to remember an article she wrote in the “on-line updates” where she mentioned going to a restaurant on Georgia’s birthday and Michael was dining with his daughters, if I’m not mistaken… I miss the on-line updates but I love this forum! Well, good to hear from you Linda and hope you participate a lot, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
