Hi Sylvie,

Sylvia.  Your wee Scottish FRIEND.

Hi Everybody,

Sylvie from Canada asked me to post this for her

It is beautiful :)

This is the kind of story you need when it seems like the world is spiraling out of control....

Not many people get a picture of this proud bird
snuggled up next to them Freedom and Jeff

Freedom and I have been together 11 years this summer.
She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken
wings. Her left wing doesn't open all the way
even after surgery, it was broken in 4
places. She's my baby.

When Freedom came in she could not stand
and both wings were broken. She was
emaciated and covered in lice. We made the
decision to give her a chance at life, so I took
her to the vets office. From then
on, I was always around her. We had her in a
huge dog carrier with the top off, and it
was loaded up with shredded newspaper for her to
lay in. I used to sit and talk to her,
urging her to live, to fight; and she would lay
there looking at me with those big brown eyes.
We also had to tube feed her for weeks.

This went on for 4-6 weeks, and by then she still
couldn't stand. It got to the point where the
decision was made to euthanize her if she
couldn't stand in a week. You know you don't
want to cross that line between torture and
rehab, and it looked like death was
winning. She was going to be put
down that Friday, and I was supposed to come in
on that Thursday afternoon. I didn't want to go
to the center that Thursday, because I couldn't
bear the thought of her being euthanized;
but I went anyway, and when I walked in everyone
was grinning from ear to ear. I went
immediately back to her cage; and there she was,
standing on her own, a big beautiful
eagle. She was ready to live. I was
just about in tears by then. That
was a very good day.

We knew she could never fly, so the director
asked me to glove train her. I got her used to
the glove, and then to jesses, and we
started doing education programs for schools in
western Washington.
We wound up in the newspapers,
radio (believe it or not) and some
TV. Miracle Pets even did a show
about us.

In the spring of 2000, I was diagnosed with
non-Hodgkins lymphoma. I had stage 3,
which is not good (one major organ plus
everywhere), so I wound up doing 8 months of
chemo. Lost the hair - the whole
bit. I missed a lot of work. When I
felt good enough, I would go to Sarvey
and take Freedom out for walks. Freedom would
also come to me in my dreams and help me fight
the cancer. This happened time and time again.

Fast forward to November 2000, the day after
Thanksgiving. I went in for my last
checkup. I was told that if the cancer was not
all gone after 8 rounds of chemo, then my last
option was a stem cell transplant. Anyway, they
did the tests; and I had to come back Monday for
the results. I went in Monday, and I was
told that all the cancer was gone.
So the first thing I did was get up to Sarvey and
take the big girl out for a walk. It was misty
and cold. I went to her flight and jessed her
up, and we went out front to the top of the
hill. I hadn't said a word to
Freedom, but somehow she knew. She looked at me
and wrapped both her wings around me to where I
could feel them pressing in on my back
(I was engulfed in eagle wings), and she
touched my nose with her beak and stared into my
eyes, and we just stood there like that
for I don't know how long. That was a
magic moment. We have been soul mates ever
since she came in. This is a very special bird.

On a side note: I have had people who
were sick come up to us when we are out, and
Freedom has some kind of hold on
them. I once had a guy who was
terminal come up to us and I let him hold
her. His knees just about buckled and he
swore he could feel her power course through his
body. I have so many stories like that.

I never forget the honor I have of being so close
to such a magnificent spirit as
Freedom.

Hope you enjoy this.

Jeff

Hi Sylvie and Dianna,

Thanks for posting Dianna and thanks for finding Sylvie.   That story goes beyond beauty, it transcends into something else - oh, to feel those wings around you.... that is LIFE coursing as it should between creatures on this earth - man and his friend - WOW !!!

Sylvia.   Your wee Scottish friend.

Hi guys, glad you enjoyed it Sylvia, isn't it a fantastic story? I could have transfered the text, but wanted you to enjoy the pictures. God bless you Dianna, you're a sweetheart! Big hugs to you both, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada xxx

I think I read that somewhere else Sylvie. Did you post it elsewhere? or maybe another friend sent the story to me. Some things have no explanation...only an inner faith....and that you have or don't. Your choice :)  Beautiful story!

Kathy and LAFD Bob

Hey Kathy, glad you enjoyed it sweetie. Nope, I've even double-checked and I hadn't posted it before. Gentel hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Hi everyone, this is a "food for thought" forward I got today, hope you enjoy it, take care. Hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take

over the business.

Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something

different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose

one of you. "The young executives were Shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give

each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water

it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have

given you.

I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one

I choose will be the next CEO."

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went

home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and

he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After

about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the

plants that were beginning to grow.

Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still

nothing.

By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like

a failure.

Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed.

Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his

colleagues, however, he just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed

to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to

the CEO for inspection.

Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest

about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing

moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room.

When Jim arrived, he was amazed at

the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful -- in all shapes

and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt

sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.

Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees and flowers you have

grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!"

All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered

the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO

knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"

When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him

the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the

young executives, "Behold your next Chief Executive Officer!

His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed.

"How could he be the new CEO?" the others said.

Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to

take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled

seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.

All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that

the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the

only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is

the one who will be the new

Chief Executive Officer!"

* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust

* If you plant goodness, you will reap friends

* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness

* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment

* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective

* If you plant hard work, you will reap success

* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation

So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

P.S.: I know the story is questionably plausible, but I like the moral attached. :D

Hi Sylvie,

A beautiful little story with an equally beautiful moral - thanks Sylvie !! :)

Sylvia.  Your wee Scottish friend.

Sylvie it is a beautiful story if it is true or isn't true there is a nice moral in which we should all abid by and that is honesty

Thanks for sharing

Love Dianna xxx

Glad you enjoyed it Dianna, my pleasure sweetie. Take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada
