Hi everyone,

I think enough of us are watching American Idol (AI) to make this thread worthwhile. So I am taking Sylvie from Canada's suggestion to move it from New Tour Reviews 2011 and give it it's own thread here in Off Topic. Since tonight starts the top 11 voting, it's getting interesting and a good time to start talking about it.

I have been a fan since it started 10 years ago. Hard to believe it's been on that long, not many TV shows last that long. So to anyone watching: "who is your favorite?"

Oh dear Wee One........you are too much fun!!!!!! So now you are dressing up as Michael??? Since when?? I see...you found a new twin!!! LOL Shoulder pads? No wonder you keep getting black eyes!!!!!

Kathy and LAFD Bob

I was thinking about the jacket Michael wore in the official video for "When I'm Back On My Feet Again" - I thought those shoulder pads would be broad enough to take some force and Kathy you talking about "twins" why not - I could just see Michael dressed in a kilt with his skean dhu tucked down his big woollen socks - oh, no problem - beautiful !!! LOL.

Hi Joy, wow, thanks for the music history lesson! That's amazing that the samples are available, isn't it? I was only able to listen to "Baby I", and from the feel of the song, I expected them to break out in: G, L, O, R, I, A, any second! :D I loved it though and thank you so much for sharing sweetie. Personally, I will never complain about getting off topic for a music history lesson. :D Have a great weekend Joy, take care. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Sylvie,

Glad you enjoyed, I also could only get to the Baby I song.  And you are so right, it sounds like Gloria.  If they did get a hit with it, I bet The Shadow of Night would have sued them!  Should this be moved to another thread about Bruce?

Have a great holiday!

Joy xx

Hey Joy!

Thanks for all the info. You should have followed Bruce to the top! I really do like him as well, so I hope

we get to see him on Idol soon.

Personally I think James Durbin will Win! You can keep telling us bits of Bruce as a youngster! He's

a great singer and performer as well! But Michael is The Boss!

Have a great day!

Mary (Meg's mom)!

You want to start a fight Mary ???????????? LOL LOL LOL.   Michael is "The VOICE" but come on Bruce is and has to be "THE BOSS" !!! LOL.

Sylvia.   Your wee Scottish friend.

Hey girls, I don't want to take sides, but I agree Bruce is the boss, although angels do overrule bosses... :D In our household, when my husband teasingly wants me to do something and says he's the boss, I tell him Bruce Springsteen is the boss! :D I do agree with Mary about James though, or I hope he'll win anyway. Take care girls. Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

OK ladies...do i have to referee here???? LOL I have to agree with the Syls Duo.......Michael is the Voice...Bruce is the Boss...and WE are the greatest fans!!!!!! LOL

Kathy and LAFD Bob

Hey Sylvia,

Let's say for the sake of "shooting anybody down", that Michael is THE BOSS here, and the reason we all

get to share this friendship with each other, is because our Boss here let's Us:)! He definitely is "THE VOICE"!

I really like Bruce, I can't watch him "Live" and go right to bed, between the both of these guys, they are both

so very AWESOME!  Don't 4-get that I also Love my country music, too:)!

You All are a Hoot:)! You keep me laughing when I need it the most! Thanks a million! Have a Happy Easter.

I have to work!

Mary (Meg's mom)!

Hey Kathy and Joy, well first, I’m with you on Casey Kathy, but I do enjoy Jacob, although I do agree that his voice can be perceived as an acquired taste. I wasn’t terribly surprised at Stefano going home, but thought Haley might be next. We have to remember that as Steven said: no one deserves to go home but someone has to.  My favorite is James and then Scotty, but I really like Lauren’s voice, so they’d be my top 3, although I have a feeling Casey might get there. Bruce Springsteen mentoring? Hmm, I love Bruce but mentoring singing? I’m supposing it might be more in the performing department. Oh wow, thanks for sharing your story Joy! Now that’s the kind of story to share with him at the stage door! I wonder if Bruce does the stage door thing… Back to AI, isn’t it amazing how fast it goes: only 5 weeks left: it hit me when Randy said it… Well anyway, thanks for sharing girls, take care. Oh and thanks for the labeled graphic Iconic Joy! Hugs, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada

Jacob still seems quite a screecher to me Sylvie :/ I agree that the top 10 were all very good and probably the best group to date. I think James will win the contest. He has a great vision and passion for every song :) All the contestants will have musical careers if they are willing to do the work.

Yes......Iconic Joy has been busy again!! :)

James Durbin finds his muse on "Idol." (Michael Becker, Fox)

‘Idol’ Behind-The-Scenes: James Durbin Cries & Runs Off Stage

by Carrie Borzillo

He may come off as a tough rocker dude and his song choices are anything but sweet, but James Durbin showed his soft side when the cameras weren’t rolling on “American Idol” Tuesday night.

From out birds’ eye view from Section I, Row 1, Seat 1 at CBS Television City for the top seven results night – which saw Stefano Langone depart – we got to witness what it’s really like when one goes home.

Who knew James and Stefano were so close? When the bottom three - Jacob Lusk, Haley Reinhart, and Stefano – were pared down to just two – Jacob and Stefano- emotions overtook James, who was seen sitting on the couch on the sidelines with his head in has hands as Casey Abrams rubbed his back. On one commercial break, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe even came up to talk to Jacob, who was visibly upset for the last 15 minutes of the show.
.

.

James and Casey then locked into a bear hug on the couch with their arms clenched around each other for several minutes. A source tells XfinityTV.com, “James and Stefano are very close and it’s hard to see anyone go at this point, let alone the one you’re closest to.”

Once Jacob was deemed safe and the ax came down on Stefano, James wiped a tear form his eye as Lauren Alaina rubbed his arm in support. Jacob’s emotions still didn’t settle as he alternately wiped tears from his eyes, wiped his nose, and put his hands over his face. Ryan Seacrest got in the action, checking on James as well to console him.

That explains why James rushed the stage at the end of Stefano’s swan song and hugged his friend hard. “That is so sweet,” said one observer. “It’s nice to see guys bond like that.”

The second the big group goodbyes were over, James literally ran off the stage to the backstage area while Stefano and the rest of the contestants, judges, producers, and crew members lingered a while longer.

How did Stefano handle it? Like a pro. He threw his arms in the air, got the studio audience cheering for him again, and went out with a smile and a “Jersey Shore”-like fist pump.
