Hi everyone, well this is my first attempt at starting a discussion so hope I’m doing this right... :D . A couple of weeks ago, I asked Gail when she thought would be a proper time to start thinking of what we fans want to do for our Michael’s 60th birthday. She said she was out of ideas, but suggested I’d start a thread asking fans for suggestions. I figure we have exactly 4 months, starting today, to come up with something fun and get mobilised to achieve it. I’m no organizer, I just thought we could share ideas so let’s put our heads together and see what we can come up with! :D Take care and hugs to all, sincerely, Sylvie from Canada J
*The 2 most popular suggestions so far are:
- individual donations to michaelboltoncharities.com, mentionning they are made in honor of Michael’s birthday, of any amount you feel comfortable with.
-a collective wall-hanging made from personalized fabric squares sent by fans that will be stitched together. The 4 inch/10 cm squares (with small blank margin) only need have your signature and location but can be crafty as you are able. For
more info, ask here, or PM either me, or Amie Angeli who will be doing the stitching and presenting the finished product to our Michael.
**Note: The final deadline for recieving fabric squares is February 15th, so you don't have much time left. :D
**It would also mean a lot to Michael if fans donate to the Red Cross for victims of hurricane Sandy at:
then E-mail Gail at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and location, so she can add them to the MBC donors list.
**If you feel strongly about sending Michael a card or personal gift, you may send it to:
c/o Michael Bolton Charities
P.O. Box 936
Branford, CT 06405
*Note that the deadline for recieving cards and presents is February 20th 2013, whether you send them to either Gail or Michael Bolton Charities.
Hi Robin from Ca, PM or E-mail me with your text and I'll pass it on to Tami. Take care sweetie. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada
Hi Tami YES Please I would love my name added to the card
I didn't send one this year, life has got in the way
Love Dianna xxx
Hey Tami, sent for a friend request as well, but just in case I can't get back in time...please add my daughter Meghan & Me (Mary) to the card, simply saying: Wish we were there to celebrate with you, but we are here in Ky...so come back soon:)! Happy Birthday...60 is just a number!!! Something like that would be Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to get all of Us on it:)! Very nice of you...and the Cake , too!
Mary (meg's mom)!
Tami, would you add my name, "Robin from L. A. CA, thanks.
Hi Again All,
I have friended all who have asked me to so that I can get your messages to add to the card. I will hopefully be getting there early enough to do all of this writing----all of the clapping during the concert will work out all of the writers cramp that will be mine LOL!!! A joy to do this for all that can't attend. Kind of like having a part of you there to be helping you. Hope that makes sense!!! LOL!!!
As for the cake, I did take you suggestions into consideration, and I hope you all don't mind, but I put a different spin on the design. It will be a vanilla, full sheet cake. It's hard to describe what I am having done, a picture will do more justice than my words could. I can tell you that music is the theme. I will definately be taking pictures. And I will post pictures of the cake. And I don't mind telling you all that I am on very sharp pins and needles until 1) I see the cake---making sure that my cake decorator gets my vision and 2) I get the cake there in one piece!!!! I had a cake done before for one of Michael's Fan Receptions and that was nerve racking!!!!! (AND HE WASN'T EVEN GOING TO SEE THAT CAKE!!!!). So you all can imagine what I am feeling now!!! (Probably especially you Arnie!!!). Any donations can be sent to me or given to me at the concert (or if you all want to see the pictures of the cake before you send your donation, I would understand that too).
Hey Tami, thanks a lot for the update and I'm sending positive vibes to you for the execution and delivery of the cake, keep us posted! :D Take care sweetie and thanks again for the initiative of both the cake and the handwritten signatures. Big hugs, sincerely, Sylvie Qc Canada
I went through 18 pages of the members&it got too much for my hands. Since I use a speech program, as y'all do know, it's a lot of arrowing up&down & whew. I guess I can start with page 19 on next time, & look for your name, Tami, that's if you wanna be on my page. I understand not everyone may wanna befriend me. I don't take it personally. It's all good.
Aw Sylvia, I can see your reasoning here. Just anyone who is attending the show and probably doesn't even know this site exists could sign that card. They'll walk in, see it, and sign not really knowing the backgorund of it and all that went into his birthday planning.
What about an online card? Or an email that everyone has "signed" and it could be printed and done from the forum members?
There will be a number of fans standing with the card...they can explain what it is. I think some of you are getting too technical about this card. The card is from all of Michael's fans...from those there and those who can't make it. I honestly don't think there are going to be too many people paying to come to a concert for an artist who isn't a fan. Gail
Hey Sylvia, You know the audience members there are there because they are fans and love MB and his music. They spent hard earned cash to see him in York. Some fans I know from the area have been going to see him for years will be there, and thrilled to get to sign a card and see him on his birthday.Fans are fans, we all support his career and music. Not all his fans are on this site, and yes the show is here, it just happened to work out that way.. I'm sorry you feel this way.
Robin in MD:)
Don't know what you are talking about Robin that your "sorry I feel this way".....feel what way perchance ?????? As far as I am concerned every single fan that is going to the concert in York can sign the card whether they are on this site or not and I think that would be absolutely fantastic but what I am asking is why were we asked for our opinion as to what should go on the card if we are not included as being a party to the card because we are not going to York and therefore can't sign it so why was the card ever mentioned on the forum at all....that is all !!!
Sylvia. Your wee Scottish friend.
