FOR MICHAEL - Thank you for this GEM

I know a lot of us have posted different threads and replies on other threads, however I have felt moved to write this having received Gems yesterday and given it a whirl non stop in the office, bathing the kids, cooking tea, sorting wedding plans out with my bride to be, pretty much everything!

 

Michael, I just wanted to take time out to say thank you for such a wonderful gift in GEMS. Every single song is just wonderful, it's poetic and soulful. I love what you've done with Pride,  I adore Love Is Everything, Fields Of Gold, Sajna. All of them, every single one is a creative GEM. More with Seal please and I'm Not Ready HAS to be released in the UK!!!!

 

With each passing year your creativity and artistry know no bounds and it's a pleasure to witness this first hand. Since the 1980s you have been a huge inspiration, a father figure, a hero of mine and will continue to be so for the rest of my days.

 

Thank you for continuing to take us on this incredible journey that we, your fans, are so lucky to be a part of. Looking forward, as always, to seeing you on the road.

 

It's our wedding day on Saturday (2nd and final time) and you can bet there'll be some MB being played! In fact, a song that is already a true classic in my eyes is our first dance, Said I Loved You But I Lied.

Well my friends, the Eagle has landed, the itch has been scratched, I FINALLY GOT MY CD!!!!! July 12, 2011 at 13:29is the time the music came to life! Lol What can I say that hasn’t been said or thought by every forum member before me? You know the big sigh of satisfaction you let out after having your favorite meal, prepared exactly the right way? Soul Food, that’s what “Gems” is… I had a good idea of what it would feel like  to listen to the full CD, thanks to the vignettes, but to extend my metaphor, it’s like reading the menu before eating. Nothing new under the sun about my feelings: Michael’s CD’s always feel like a new love to me. :D “Love is everything” with Rascal Flats is what home feels like to me and listening to it was like coming home so had tears of joy all the way through. I had plenty of time to study Eva Cassidy’s voice so I could concentrate on the duet “Fields of gold” when I heard it. We’ve heard in the vignette the respect Michael put into this duet: it’s like watching someone weaving the wings of a butterfly and now, to me, Sting is just the guy who wrote it. The production is so fantastic: I thought they made it really sound as if they were singing a duet together, not just harmonizing. “Sajna” is so pretty, it’s tenderness personified! “Pride” is just the perfect rock song for Michael:understanding and delivering the message, I’ve always loved this song! “I’m not ready” is still the saddest song next to “Walk away” and Michael and Delta deliver it from “that place”, heart wrenching but still gorgeous…  “Over the rainbow” is the summer breeze Michael infused version, while still staying true to the spirit of the original. Of course, we’ve been saying for months how much we love the WAMLAW/TIAMMW spectacular mash-up and that hasn’t changed! I’ve always loved “The prayer” too and found it very interesting to listen to Michael’s lower range, love to hear him sing in Italian again and the high notes are just pure delight. Boy was I waiting for “You are so beautiful” and knew I’d love it! It was already a classic in its pure and simple form, all Michael had to do was add the perfect voice an dbreathe  some Michaelness into it and voila! :D “Make you feel my love” reminds me of one of the first things I’ve noticed  about Michael singing duets, since the earliest performances I’ve ever heard from him: the respect of giving his duet partner the vocal space they need. Helene Fischer has a gorgeous tone and I’ll look forward to the box set Michael is willing to record with her! Lol I’ve loved “Hallelujah” since the moment I’ve heard it on DWTS. I’ve never liked any Leonard Cohen versions of his own songs so never researched his lyrics, but I’ve always said that if anyone could make me love one of his songs, it would be Michael and boy do I love the choir of “Michael Bolton angels” with him! :D Michael’s version moves me like no other. And finally, “Steel bars” is sung as Michael does it live so that is the best way possible and of course, we all know Orianthi rocks! Now, I want to thank everyone for indulging me in my ramblings because I’ve been waiting for this CD for 27 days so after listening to it 6 times in a row before coming on, I still have to soak and wallowin it for a while! Good morning girls, isn’t it? :D Kathy, I’d rather play it in the living-room for now: the stereo is much more powerful and I’m selflessly sharing with my neighbors! Lol Mary, now you know it girl! Sylvie......I'm so happy you got your "Gems" package finally!!!  I've been enjoying myself too..... between "Gems" and Barry's Manilow's "15 Minutes", sometimes I don't know what to listen to first!!!!  Like the saying goes....two is better than one!!!  And being in possession of the concerts tickets too, is the icing on the cake!!!  :)
